For many years, Domini has incorporated concerns about deforestation into its investment decision-making and shareholder engagement work. Deforestation is a key contributor to climate change and a threat to biodiversity, indigenous peoples and local communities. We have submitted shareholder proposals and engaged in dialogue with a variety of corporations on these issues, including paper and pulp, soy, sugar, charcoal (for pig-iron production), beef and palm oil sourcing and related human rights impacts. We have convinced a number of companies to adopt and improve policies, practices and public reporting on forestry impacts.
